As has been widely publicised the new government has made the winter fuel payment means tested.
Only those receiving Pension Credit or other means-tested benefits will receive Winter Fuel Payment this year and beyond.
It is estimated 10 million individuals will be affected by the removal of this benefit.
It is also estimated that in the region of 900,000 people are eligible for the benefit that do not claim it. If you thing you might be eligible for pension credit but do not claim it then visit the DWP website for more information
Age UK believes up to 2 million pensioners will now have to choose whether to heat their home this winter or not.
