Mrs L contacted our Guildford home care team about her grandmother, Mrs M. Mrs M had been having cancer treatment for 18 months, but sadly it hadn't worked, and she was becoming more frail and less able to care for herself each day.

 

Mrs L had been visiting daily to help with basic care and meals, but her grandmother now needed more than she could provide alone — and, just as importantly, she didn't want her last memories of her grandmother to be of caring for her.

 

We provided two care workers, three times a day, working alongside Mrs M's Macmillan nurse. Our carers took over personal care and help with eating — and whenever Mrs L and the great-grandchildren were due to visit, we made sure personal care was finished beforehand, so Mrs M could greet her family with dignity.
